About Us

Thirsk  RUFC is a rugby club at the heart of a rural community who love playing rugby and know how to enjoy themselves on and off field.  It  has a Men's team and a range of Junior teams starting from 6 year old upwards. We play out of the Thirsk Athletic, Sports and Social Club on Newsham road (down the side of the racecourse). We are fortunate to have the use of these superb shared facilities in the changing rooms and lounge and having a very well maintained rugby pitch - possibly the best for playing on across all of Yorkshire! The pitch is right in front of the main stand of the racecourse, which gives a great backdrop for playing our games.  Most visiting teams are  rightly envious of the set up we have here at Thirsk.

The Men’s team plays on Saturday, currently playing in a merit table with a view to building up a strong enough playing base to start a second team and later seek to join the Yorkshire league. The men train on Tuesdays, starting at 7.00pm for up to two hours. Just turn up or contact one of the coaches.

The Junior teams train and play on Sunday morning’s starting at 10:30am. Each junior player is allowed to play in 12 games per season and this is what we will be aiming to achieve by playing friendly games against other local junior teams. The players and their parents, who are most supportive and involved, are having a great time and it is so enjoyable to see the 'future' of the club developing in front of our eyes as they become even more soundly established.
